General information<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Giving and receiving periodic peer feedback on draft texts can nurture a feeling of well-being and create a greater sense of writing community throughout your PhD journey. Writing a dissertation or article can be isolating \u2013 this workshop builds structured, collaborative support.

In this face-to-face (we can discuss) workshop, we will present Yallop & Leijen's Peer Feedback Process (PFP) Model. Participants will work in small, discipline-aligned groups, with the option to participate alongside their supervisor.

Within this cycle, we will give you an evidence-based tool-kit to give and receive useful feedback on one small section of your current draft text as whilst working with doctoral researchers across different Estonian institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshop preparations<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

We encourage you to bring one page of your draft text in any stage of development (from initial ideas to completed draft) and in any academic genre (article, presentation abstract, etc.) to share with your group.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facilitators<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

\u27a4 Katarina Dam\u010devi\u0107<\/strong> is a researcher and academic coordinator at the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) in Regensburg, Germany. Her research explores the semiotics of hate speech and controversial symbols in (post)conflict societies, especially in Southeast Europe. In collaboration with the Center for Academic Writing and Communication at the University of Tartu, she supports students through writing retreats, workshops, courses, and collaborative writing initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u27a4 Roger Yallop<\/strong> is a researcher in academic writing at the University of Tartu. He completed his postdoctoral work at The Ohio State University (U.S.) and holds a PhD in General Linguistics. Roger specialises in the rhetorical analysis of academic texts and has published research on the peer feedback process in academic writing. He regularly teaches academic writing to doctoral students across the disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration will open on the 13th of May.
The maximum number of participants is 30. Participants will be selected based on the order of registration.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
