K\u00f5ige huvitavamad n\u00e4ited nendest ei tegele mitte pelgalt algup\u00e4ra v\u00f5i p\u00e4ritolu k\u00fcsimustega, vaid uurivad eelajaloo seotust kriitilise olevikuga. Selline pikendatud mineviku tunnetus muutis ajaloolist teadvust vastuolulisel viisil: see t\u00f5i esile \u201el\u00f5pu teadvustamise\u201d, ajaloo v\u00e4ltimatu \u201eloomulikkuse\u201d, ent r\u00f5hutas selle k\u00f5rval samas ka akumulatsiooni, muuseumistumist ja ammendumist.
