Cool Minds, Warm Conversations: Respect and Well-Being in Academia
08/05 14:00 – 21:00
📍 Lodjakoda, Ujula tn 98, 51008 Tartu, Estonia
Mental well-being is essential to professional thriving, but it can sometimes be undermined by hurtful behavior in the workplace that creates a tense, unmotivating environment. What can we do in these situations?
This interactive workshop will explore the spectrum of workplace harassment and bullying, from subtle microaggressions to overt behavior. Through group discussions and interactive activities, participants will gain an understanding of the different types of harassment and their root causes, including how cultural differences and a lack of communication can unintentionally escalate into harm. We will also examine the impacts of harassment on individuals and teams, what we can do to prevent bullying and what to do if you witness or experience harassment. The participants will gain practical tools to:
- Recognise different forms of harassment
- Respond effectively as a bystander or target
- Contribute to creating a safer workplace
- Understand the pathways to institutional support and legal action
The workshop will be conducted in English and is followed by a social gathering and experience-sharing discussions over dinner.
The workshop will be conducted by Marlen Laanep, a trainer for non-violent workplaces and a junior researcher/PhD student at the University of Tartu.
