Estonian Doctoral School invites interested parties to a seminar by Dr. Cornelis F.M. Sieri (PhD, Department of Surgery, Leiden University Medical Centre, Leiden, Netherlands) on the subject of „Development of probes to illuminate cancer“
Dr Cornelis Sier has over 35 years of experience in pre-clinical cancer research.
He is particularly interested in targets for diagnosis and therapeutics, particularly within the interaction between neoplastic and stromal cells.
During the last decade he focused on the design, development, and (pre)clinical evaluation of fluorescent probes to distinguish malignant from normal tissue in the operating room. He will discuss some strategies, challenges, and pitfalls in this ongoing process and show some clinical examples of near infrared fluorescence-guided oncologic surgery.
