Comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

06/03 15:30 16:00

8 L. Puusepa’s Street, A. Linkberg’s Auditorium

Academic staff of the Institute of Clinical Medicine of the University of Tartu, PhD. students, residents, students of the Faculty of Medicine, physicians working at the Tartu University Hospital.

At the academic level, patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) typically have comorbidities that occur more frequently in patients with COPD than in the rest of the sex- and age-matched population. This more frequent co-occurrence of these co-morbidities is presumably due to the time factor (age of patients) on one hand and a large commonality in the etiology and pathobiology of COPD and other diseases on the other.

The format is an academic plenary lecture (lecture followed by a questions-and-answers session);

Learning outcomes: after this event, the participants are more familiar with COPD in terms of the epidemiology, mechanisms of onset, and modern approach to the patient.
