Practice Research Seminar

The seminar is aimed at doctoral students in engineering and technology and humanities and arts. 1,5 ECTS credits are available for the seminar.

Run by Dr Jan van Schaik (RMIT) with assistance from Dr Siim Tuksam (EKA) for a group of current PhD candidates.

Candidates will receive a brief by email a week prior the seminar outlining what material to bring, and how to structure a small presentation of their current research.

After an introductory session outlining how practice- based research as it is practiced at RMIT University, the candidates will present current work, receive feedback and a corresponding task to prepare for the following day. On that following day candidates will re-present based on their learnings from the first day, and the practice research undertaken overnight.

The seminar will end with a plenary session at EKA Doctoral School Conference, chaired by Dr Jan van Schaik and an open lecture titled "The Work is the Knowledge" on 10 April at 6pm.

The maximum number of participants is 10. Preference will be given to doctoral students in architecture and urban planning.
