Ülikooli 18, Tarturoom 140

Since the mid-20th century we have been living in the Anthropocene, a time when human activities have accelerated to such an extent that they now impact planetary health – which includes human health. An international group of scientists concluded in 2023 that the boundaries have been crossed in six of the nine key earth systems – including climate change, biodiversity and chemical pollution. This talk will cover give an overview of main health concerns related to air, noise and chemical pollution, highlight related international policy initiatives, and discuss issues around sustainable practice in health research.

The facilitator is Prof Anna Hansell, Professor of Environmental Epidemiology, Centre for Environmental Health and Sustainability, University of Leicester
