Open Access Series: How to Publish Open Access? A Practical Guide for Doctoral Students

The webinar will be held in English. 

The goal of this webseminar is to provide doctoral students with a comprehensive understanding of Open Access publishing, including its key concepts, benefits, and common misconceptions.

Participants will explore the differences between Open Access and subscription-based models, learn about open licensing, and receive practical guidance on how to publish Open Access articles. By the end of the seminar, students will be equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the Open Access landscape, choose appropriate publishing strategies, and meet the expectations of funding bodies.

Facilitator: Project Manager at the University of Tartu Library Elena Sipria-Mironov. Elena Sipria-Mironov is a project and communication manager with expertise in Open Science and Open Access. At the University of Tartu Library, she has coordinated EU-funded initiatives, developed training courses, and supported international collaboration. Elena regularly advises researchers on Open Access publishing, licensing, and funder requirements such as Horizon Europe.
