“From PhD to Researcher: Designing Your Career Beyond the Thesis”
The lecture describes a somewhat messy, real-life journey from doing a PhD to building a research career. I’ll share my own story, which definitely wasn’t mapped out in advance—rather, it evolved through one opportunity leading to the next. Along the way, my research focus has grown wider, starting from preterm infants’ breastfeeding and gradually expanding to cover the whole of maternity care, including pregnancy and birth, as well as the stigma of obesity. It’s been a process of following my interests, staying open, and figuring things out as I go. Through this talk, I hope to spark discussion about research careers and career development in nursing science.

“Insights into Pediatric Nursing Research”
Research in the field of pediatric nursing has increasingly shifted toward the development and evaluation of the effectiveness of various interventions. However, there is still an ongoing need for qualitative research to capture children’s experiences. This lecture will present insights into pediatric nursing research focusing on non-pharmacological pain management, along with family-centered care and nature-based interventions. Although pain in pediatric patients remains undertreated, new digital solutions are increasingly being developed to support its management. Parents’ perspectives are also essential to consider, as they offer unique insights that may differ from those of healthcare professionals.
