Doctoral Supervision: Methods and Tools

The workshop will be conducted in English, and the focus of the workshop is on supervisors in science, technology, and medical sciences.
The main goal of the workshop is to provide supervisors with new strategies and practical tools to make doctoral supervision professional, effective, and enjoyable. It also offers a safe space for supervisors to reflect on their role and share experiences with other supervisors from Estonian universities. The workshop is suitable for both new and experienced supervisors.

➤ Dr. Gitte Wichmann-Hansen is a professor at the University of Agder and a senior researcher at Aarhus University. She also owns the consultancy Academic Supervision, which provides high-quality professional training for research supervisors. Her research focuses on doctoral supervision, and she has published over one hundred works in this field. Over the past 15 years, Gitte has conducted workshops across European universities for supervisors at various stages of their careers.
➤ Dr. Mirjam Godskesen is a freelance consultant and researcher who works as a part-time lecturer at Aalborg University in Denmark. In 2006, she founded the company UNWIND, which has since grown into a successful team, employing over seven part-time PhD coaches and one full-time consultant. Each year, Mirjam supervises more than 20 doctoral courses in Denmark, across Scandinavia, the rest of Europe, and, in recent years, also in Africa and Asia, sharing her knowledge and experience on an international level.
