Pitfalls and Risks in Research. A Practical Guide to Research Ethics for Early-Career Scientists
30/01/2025 – 31/01/2025
Jakobi 2, Tartu
The training is held in English and is suitable for doctoral students of all Estonian universities.
For participating in the workshop you can receive 1 ECTS.
The requirements for research ethics have become so complex that even scientists who value ethics may risk missteps. The aim of this intensive seminar is to bring together doctoral students and research ethics experts, offering, on the one hand, an opportunity for doctoral students to sharpen their ability to identify ethical issues and develop skills to address them, and, on the other hand, a chance for ethics experts to understand how to better support young researchers in tackling ethical challenges.
The seminar takes an interactive approach, examining the different stages of research (planning, conducting, and disseminating results) and discussing potential pitfalls. It provides doctoral students with a unique opportunity to identify ethical questions that may arise in their research and to seek advice from experts on how to resolve them. The discussion will be led by external expert Professor Kate Millar using discussion cards to guide the conversation.
