Conference “Artistic Explorations: Research Pathways in Performing Arts”

The conference invites doctoral researchers, master's students, and doctoral supervisors in the humanities, arts, and social sciences to attend the conference. The conference will be held in English.

The conference will for the first time in Estonia bring together artistic research doctoral researchers in the broad field of performing arts. What are other emerging artistic researchers researching? What are relevant topics in the field? What are the main challenges? The day of the conference can be seen as a get together of performing arts creatives to meet up and exchange experiences. What are doctoral researchers researching in the neighbouring countries? We welcome guests from Lithuania and Finland.

With the help of the keynote speaker, graduate of Artistic Research at Uniarts Helsinki, Joa Hug, we ask several challenging questions: How can artistic practice be transformed into a medium of artistic research? How can you develop a way of writing that preserves the performative power and physical force of your practice?

Doctoral researchers participating in the conference will gain insight into the research topics of artistic researchers in the performing arts, obtain an overview of methodological diversity, and gain practical experience in presenting their creative research as scientific work.
