Mobile Tartu PhD School “Mobility data analysis for social and environmental research”

07/06 10/06

📍 Tartu

The event will be held in English.

Credits: 2 ECTS

The course is integrated with the Mobile Tartu Conference. All participants of the course will present their research as an oral or poster presentation.

This course focuses on the use of movement data in social and environmental research, combining approaches from spatial analysis, data science, and transport studies. The course explores how human movement is shaped by the built environment, transport networks, and data practices. Through a series of hands-on workshops, participants will work on topics such as pedestrian movement modelling, public transport accessibility and usage, biases in mobile phone–based mobility data, and the transformation of origin–destination data into route networks and traffic estimates. By the end of the course, participants will have gained practical skills in movement data analysis and a solid understanding of how to use these methods in research and planning.
