“Ida-Euroopa kunstist kirjutamine 1970. aastatest alates”

Eesti doktorikooli humanitaarteaduste ja kunstide haru kutsub osalema seminarkursusel. Seminarikursus keskendub kunstiteaduse metodoloogiale, vaadates erinevaid lähenemisi kunstist kirjutamisele 1970. aastatest alates. Analüüsitavate kriitiliste tekstide raskuspunkt on Ida-Euroopa kunstil sotsialistlikul ja postsotsialistlikul perioodil. Arutluse all on raamistikud, mis hõlmavad hiljutisi ajaloolisi “pöördeid” kunstiajaloo distsipliinis: kuraatorluse ajalugu, sotsiaalne kunstiajalugu, intersektsionaalsed, globaalsed ja dekoloniseerivad suunad. Uurime neid diskursiivseid muutusi seoses tänapäeva Euroopa kunsti poliitiliste ja loominguliste prioriteetidega.
Külalisõppejõud on Dr. Klara Kemp-Welch (Courtauldi Kunstiinstituut, Londoni Ülikool)
Klara Kemp-Welch on Londoni Ülikooli Courtauldi Kunstiinstituudi 20. sajandi modernismi lektor. Ta tegeleb Ida-Euroopa moodsa ja kaasaegse kunstiga, on õppinud Slaavi ja Ida-Euroopa uuringute koolis ja University College Londonis. Klara Kemp-Welch on raamatute “Antipolitics in Central European Art. Reticence as Dissidence under Post-Totalitarian Rule 1956-1989” (IB Tauris, 2014), “Networking the Bloc. Experimental Art in Eastern Europe 1965-1981” (MIT Press, 2019) autor ning kaastoimetaja raamatule “A Reader in East-Central European Modernism 1918-1956” koos Beata Hocki ja Jonathan Oweniga (Courtauld Books Online, 2019). Praegu on ta lõpetamas monograafiat pealkirjaga „Free Movement? Documenting Migration and Mobility in Eastern Europe“.

„Frameworks: Writing Eastern European Art since the 1970s“

Estonian Doctoral School for Humanities and Arts invites doctoral students to a workshop. This workshop on methodology will focus on changing approaches to art writing since the 1970s, through critical analysis of key texts relating to socialist and post-socialist Eastern European art. Frameworks considered include recent historical ‘turns’ in the discipline of art history: curatorial, social, intersectional, global and decolonial. We explore these discursive shifts in relation to artistic and political priorities in European art today.
Guest lecturer is Dr. Klara Kemp-Welch, The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London
Klara Kemp-Welch is Reader in 20th Century Modernism at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. She works on modern and contemporary art from Eastern Europe. She was educated at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies and University College London and is the author of Antipolitics in Central European Art. Reticence as Dissidence under Post-Totalitarian Rule 1956-1989 (IB Tauris, 2014), Networking the Bloc. Experimental Art in Eastern Europe 1965-1981 (MIT Press, 2019) and co-editor of A Reader in East-Central European Modernism 1918-1956 with Beata Hock and Jonathan Owen (Courtauld Books Online, 2019). She is currently completing a monograph entitled Free Movement? Documenting Migration and Mobility in Eastern Europe.
