Science Communication and Presentation Training

Trainers:

Emma Weitkamp – Professor in Science Communication at the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK
Andrea Brunello – Ph.D. in Physics, an independent researcher, playwright, director and actor.

Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of the basic concepts of science communication
  • Raise awareness of the role and value of researchers in science communication
  • Introduce skills and tools for communicating science and research to different audiences
  • Focus on developing presentation skills

The training will take place over two days. For each training day, please choose either the morning or afternoon session. To prepare for day 1 training, please write a short abstract about your research (200-300 words). Depending on how far along the PhD road you have travelled, this might be an introduction to the project/why its interesting or it could be findings from your research. Either way, try to write this for someone who doesn’t know much about your field of research. Please send this to emma.weitkamp@uwe.ac.uk the deadline is on November 25 2024.
