Organoids in reproductive medicine

The following event is held in English. Doctoral researchers from the faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Veterinary Medicine are welcome to attend.

The lecture will provide an overview of the use of organoids and other advanced 3D in vitro models in reproductive medicine. It will explore how these models can recapitulate key structural and functional features of human tissues and be used to study reproductive tract physiology and disease mechanisms, including endometriosis and fallopian tube biology. The lecture will also address the opportunities and limitations of organoid-based models in reproductive medicine research and their potential contribution to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Format: opponent lecture / scientific seminar.

Learning outcomesparticipants will gain an understanding of the principles of organoid and 3D tissue models, their applications in reproductive medicine, and their opportunities and limitations for studying reproductive biology and disease.

PhD, Maastricht University, MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine.
Paul Wieringa is an Assistant Professor at Maastricht University whose research focuses on tissue engineering and the development of advanced 3D in vitro tissue models.
